More about our Math and Language Programs:
KEY MATH is an individualized math book based on the Key Math Test
Protocol. Students are tested across 13 key areas of required math
skills needed for high school competence. Strengths and weaknesses
are then programmed for and an individual binder is created for the
student.
READING PLUS is a program designed to improve reading fluency, vocabulary and
reading comprehension. The system ’reads’ the student and
adapts to target current competence levels. As the student masters
these levels they are challenged more. Covers Kindergarten to College
levels of skill.
More about the Specialized Programs:
Our
complementing programs include:
1) PACE,
researched and developed by Growth Strategies, Inc., is a program that has
been described as a "mental boot camp." It trains cognitive
processing skills that directly affect academic learning. These
skills include: Attention (the ability to stay on task even when
distractions are present); Simultaneous Processing (the ability
to handle more than one thing at a time, to see the whole or
"gestalt"); Sequential Processing (the ability to learn
step by step, linking a series of inputs over time) ; Planning/Problem
Solving ; Processing Speed ; Memory ; Auditory Processing (including
phonemic awareness or thinking about the sounds inside of words); Visual
Processing (the ability to perceive, analyze, and think in visual images)
2) Fast ForWord, researched and developed by Scientific Learning
Corporation, is a program series that has been described as "glasses
for the ears." It attacks the underlying difficulties that an
individual may have understanding and using language. The
program utilizes a series of graduated mental drills that ultimately enable
the required learning skills to become automatic. The Fast ForWord Program is an intensive cognitive retraining
program designed to improve language, auditory processing and reading
skills. The program is based on the premise that many individuals who
are experiencing language processing difficulty/delays and/or auditory
perceptual difficulty do so because the brain does not accurately process
the acoustic information. Through adaptive training the brain can be taught/retrained to process acoustic information faster
and accurately. The changes made are permanent.
The Fast ForWord program is individualized to provide
as much acoustical modification as the child needs and to adapt the next
exercise accordingly. As progress continues, the brain learns how to
process acoustical signals at a faster and faster rate, moving the child to
a level of speech more consistent with his or her age.
3) THE INTERACTIVE METRONOME® program is a new
computer-based technology to measure and improve Timing, Rhythmicity, Motor Planning, Sequencing and Cognitive
Capabilities.
The Interactive Metronome program is an innovative
approach for improving attention and concentration. Initially developed to
assist athletes improve performance, it has since been adapted to assist
individuals improve concentration/attention, motor sequencing and motor planning,
sound localization, figure ground discrimination and to diminish auditory
hypersensitivity/hyperacusis.
This program is based on adaptive training theories where the
individual is coached using auditory cues to repetitively and precisely
perform a simple motor movement to an auditory cue (the metronome beat)
over an extended period of time. Research has documented significant
improvement in attention span and academic performance in children with
identified attention deficit (differences).
Cost structure:
1)
Base costs for the academic program are $1200.00 for July
2) Testing
is required for each student; a $150 charge applies.
3) Base
costs for PACE (30 hours of 1:1 time, requires a 3 week commitment. $40/hr)
4) Base
costs for FFW are +$1000, requires a 4 week commitment; 1:10 teacher to
student ratio
5) Base
costs for Interactive Metronome are $2,000 and this would be scheduled on a
1 hour per visit basis for 15 sessions.
6) Pre
and post school care will be available through Edukids
on-site.
7) Swim
lessons are an additional cost to be determined based on numbers of
children interested.
8) If
you would like to choose ½ day the tuition is still need to be the same
since investments in teachers, and programs are fixed.
